ever since kristie surprised me with this beautiful bedroom after i got back from blogshop boston, we've been brainstorming the next steps for our improving lovely sanctuary. honestly, i love the gray paint, almost more than anything. i've been sleeping like a rock lately. we also took an old desk of my mom's + transformed it into our nightstands! the drawers are old wine crates...love it so much.
so, time for real talk. this is what our room looks like:
it's getting there, right? but that huge blank space is begging for something new.
i'm imagining it below (thanks photoshop) with this urban outfitters quilt. it's on our wedding registry so...fingers crossed. take a look at a few of the pieces of art we're considering for above our bed!
swedish alphabet from ikea; johnny cash lyrics from concepcion studios; big letters from oh hello friend; sign language from gritty city goods; yes yes yes from fifi du vie (on sale!).
kristie + i definitely each have our own favorites, but i'd love to hear what you think! what's above your bed at home?

First, I love the comforter/blanket - very bright and colorful - although I use UO for inspiration and would find it vintage. :) I just found the most amazing vintage southwestern print rug in burnt orange, cream, and mustard. I can't decide if we should keep it or throw it in the pop-up sale. But it totally reminds me of UO. Above our bed I have a huge collage, because I am indecisive. There are about 20 framed prints all arranged together -from an old bird needlepoint to floral paintings to an owl paint by number - but it looks pretty because they all have old vintage frames. :) And, we got our save the dates yesterday! So so happy!

Personally, I think "YES YES YES" is perfect for over the bed ;)
One thing I love about thrifting (and have a husband who is into thrifting, too) is that we've been able to change around the artwork in our bedroom a few times without breaking the bank. I was fond of the black and white prints of cityscapes but we're currently trying out several of those 18th century style calendar floral arrangements (do you know the thing? I see them all over the place here).
Also, hey from a (temporarily transplanted to Georgia) western MA girl!

amanda, i love that quilt so much, the only thing that could make it better is if i could find something vintage like it ;) i think that's probably why i like it!! it reminds me of something that has history. i love the idea of having a wall of different smaller prints + pictures! and congratulations on getting your save-the-dates!! is it feeling real yet?? ;)
jenny, that one is my favorite too, haha! i think i know the type of art you're describing...kind of like a scientific illustration almost? those are so beautiful. kind of like the observational drawings that john audubon did of birds. i bet you're enjoying that GA weather, girl!! ;)

Yes, that sounds right! And yeah, totally loving the 75 degree March weather - but ask me again in the summer (though hopefully will be visiting the Berkshires this summer if we manage to sell my dad's house there).

I like the YES YES YES ! It is like sending a positive message every time you wake up . that is the purpose of a bedroom; to make you feel uplifted and relaxed all the time!

thanks patrick, that's my favorite too!!!! hopefully if i get enough people saying they like it too, it'll sway kristie's choice... (she really likes the johnny cash print)
